Patients that sleep in their contact lenses or over wear them are Dr Sao's most common reason for emergency office visits. The first national look at this issue by the CDC has found that $175 million a year is spent in healthcare costs to treat keratitis associated with contact lens abuse.
Dr Sao has 3 main rules for proper contact lens care which will aide you in being a successful contact lens wearer (and save you from an office visit and expensive prescription eye drops): 1. Don't sleep in your contacts! Many contacts are "approved" for overnight wear but you have to read the fine print that says you still run the risk of eye infections. 2. Replace them accordingly! A monthly lens should be changed out every 30 days starting from when the package was opened. That means you should discard them in 30 days even if you've only worn them a few times a week. The lens material is like a matrix that can harbor oils, protein, debris, and dead cells from your tears/eyes. The coating on some lenses will also wear out and be less comfortable. 3. Keep everything clean that comes in contact with the lens and your eyes! That means wash your hands, clean the storage case daily and replace it every few months. Use only contact lens disinfecting solution to clean and store your lenses overnight.

https://plus.google.com/+Bhoptometry/about Its back to school time! That mean kids are moving up a grade level and along with that comes more reading, homework, and near activities that may cause eyestrain and tired eyes. Its not just kids but also adults that suffer from eye fatigue due to computer use.
Dr Sao recommends the "20/20/20 rule." Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. It may help you get some extra computer time before eyestrain sets in. We are celebrating our 3 year anniversary since taking over for Dr Hagen & Ruben in their retirement! Thank you to all our patients for making it possible. OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE EXPERTISE IN EYE CARE WITH THE HIGHEST QUALITY EYE WEAR AND PROFESSIONALISM AVAILABLE. WE ARE ALSO HAPPY TO RECEIVE A "CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE" AWARD FROM MES VISION WHICH IS BASED ON FEEDBACK RECEIVED FROM MES VISION PATIENTS.
